The new council will develop automobile tourism in the UAE

Measures to facilitate the cross-border movement of car tourists both in the Middle East region and around the world were discussed at the first meeting of the newly created organization - the AIT / FIA Customs Council in the United Arab Emirates.

The new organization includes representatives of the International Alliance of Tourists (MAT) and the International Federation of Motorsport (IFA). It was decided to develop plans for moving across borders within 12 months and elect senior council officials. The main task is to simplify travel by car using the official Carnet de Passages en Douane document, which is issued in the country exclusively by the UAE Automobile and Travelers Club (ATCUAE). It should be noted that from 30 to 40 thousand of such documents are issued annually in the UAE for those who travel outside the United Arab Emirates to the countries of the Council of Cooperation of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC), and then to Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. “In view of the growing number of CPD Carnets we produce every year, it’s very important to pay attention to improving the procedures for their application, therefore we and our neighbors from the Middle East need to build closer relationships. It is a great honor for the club to host a council meeting, and we see an increase in our role in developing the licensing system, "said Dr. Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of ATCUAE.

It is worth clarifying that "Carnet CPD" is a customs document for a car for temporary import, a unified obligation to re-export. It is required in a number of countries for the import of foreign cars, in which without this document it is necessary to pay a refundable deposit (as a guarantee of customs payments in case of non-export) even for a temporarily imported car.
