The conversation about good and evil, love and vice with a charismatic man who creates fragrances on these topics turned out to be so fascinating that a flash of regret flashed through my thoughts. Of course, it would be much more comfortable to philosophize about eternal issues in a more relaxed atmosphere than wandering around the busy Harvey Nichols gallery in the Mall of the Emirates, where the Kilian perfume house is presented.
Kilian, judging by the design of your new collection, and you could not resist the “snake” temptation of the coming year.
The thing is that I always talk about temptation, and, creating this collection, I didn’t really think about what sign the year was coming. These fragrances are a continuation of conversations on eternal topics. The Garden of Good and Evil is not just another interpretation of the biblical story about how the Serpent tempted Eve and Eve tempted Adam, and my aromatic composition, dedicated to the power of female magnetism, consists in its weaknesses. This is a story of passions that rule the world. The first chapter: In the City of Sin ("In the city of sins") - in the world there are so many temptations, how to resist them ... and is it necessary? Second: Good Girl Gone Bad ("Good Girl Gets Bad") - after all, bad girls basically break our hearts. At least, I think that girls should have peppercorns, this makes the relationship more sharp, and with absolute "angels" it quickly becomes boring. Forbidden Games (“Forbidden Games”) - I rarely use fruit flavors, but how was it not to give a slight hint of a crunchy apple that started it all? A provocation could also be a peach, plum or grape whose notes are present in the aroma. By the way, this playful motif is the most popular of all three flavors, apparently because the prelude always attracts more than the result itself.
Your first perfume collections were dressed in a strict black "frame", they could easily be called unisex. Whereas in the "Garden" you can clearly see the female direction, and the casket for storing the bottle has become a real jewel, with a new color scheme - absolutely opposite to your beloved, already recognizable, black.
You are right, initially I did not divide the fragrances into male and female. If you noticed that none of the bottles indicated pour homme or femme, my girlfriend and daughter often wear the same perfume as I do. But the particular femininity of this particular collection is due to its presentation - an elegant clutch. I have repeatedly told the story of the origin of the idea of such a universal “packaging” - when a girl unexpectedly came up with a box from under my spirits to go out, because she most suited her at that moment under the dress. This time I approached even more responsibly the creation of the clutch box, having thought over the whole image: the perfection of the Garden of Good and Evil design is in the purity of lines and color combination: white - as a symbol of innocence and eternal paradise; Golden - as a symbol of wealth and luxury. The severity of the facets of the box is softened by the bends of the golden body of the Serpent, an exquisite temptation in brilliant simplicity.
Of course, a man can find his own in these three fragrances, I also do not exclude this option ... But still, he is unlikely to buy it for himself. Therefore, it is possible that in the future the theme of seductive Eve will be supplemented by Adam. It remains only to determine what role he will play.
And what role do you assign to a woman, in addition to seducing? What, first of all, attracts you the most in us?
Self-confidence. I believe that the most sexual traits in a woman are to be confident, intelligent and independent.
That is, in other words, physical attractiveness is not so important for you?
First of all, of course, I pay attention to appearance. But after a few minutes of communication you can understand - do you want to continue it further. Ideally, a girl should not only be beautiful, know how to behave in society, what to wear ... It should be interesting with her, only then she is sexy! I love educated women who have a broad outlook and smell pleasantly - a good aroma, of course, is one of the main components of success.
