Letter from the editor

In the new season, simplicity and sophistication finally returned to fashion, and with them clean lines and an emphasis on aristocracy. Despite the glitter parade, prints, patterns and floral motifs, the designers still put the main emphasis on the simplicity and purity of lines, shapes and silhouettes. The fashion world brings to the pedestal new, laconic standards of beauty. If white, then impeccably pure, if the color is noble. However, now the concept of "simplicity" has acquired a different meaning. He was most clearly described by the famous perfumer of the Hermes Fashion House, Jean-Claude Ellen. "The simplicity that I appreciate is the quintessence of the best and the absence of unnecessary details that overshadow the essence," he said in an interview.

However, not only fashion but also art is subject to new trends, whether it is expressed in music, design or architecture. The orientation toward rationality displaces the sensory principle in a person who longs for his expression. Therefore, architects have long been puzzled by the idea of creating airy, light forms with streamlined lines and without any unnecessary details. Spacious snow-white villas from Marshall Architects, a Louis Vuitton boutique island in the form of a ship in Singapore, the Ca1ahu Soho center in Beijing, a cinema in the middle of the blue lagoon in southern Thailand Archipelago Cinema ... Buildings created from some kind of almost space materials and having smooth and rounded surfaces idealized and beautiful. This suggests that the current freedom of expression of artists is still imbued with a desire for simplicity and purity of forms of nature itself. Indeed, in nature there is no superfluous details, everything is in its place and in the right proportions.

But if you return to fashion, then in the current season it is still important not to step over the permissible line. After all, minimalism is easily confused with a lack of taste and imagination, and this is a completely different story. In creating your own image this spring, choose a creative path, experiment, dare, because any creative approach is always more effective than simple copying. Going on shopping, focus on your own interpretation of must-have things, while preserving individuality.

Personally, the restrained and sophisticated cut without undue rigor and feminine forms, laconic silhouette and the play of light and dark tones never inspire me personally. And the simplicity of the cut can always be compensated by the sophistication of high-tech jewelry. Here, at the junction of classics and futurism, inspiration is born. And it doesn’t matter if it concerns fashion or modern design decisions.

And by the way, if in the evening I accidentally find myself near the famous musical fountains next to the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, I always wait for only one composition of the aria "About Mio Babbino Caro" from Puccini's opera performed by New Zealand opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa. The enchanting dance of luminous fountains to the accompaniment of a bewitching, almost unearthly voice gives rise to the triumph of beauty and color. Here, high technology is combined with the purity and aristocracy of the classics. There are no unnecessary details that overshadow the essence. This is the quintessence of the best.
