Violators on waterways - fine

Fans of a ride along the smooth surface of Dubai's coastal waters will pay fines along with motorists. Now, police boats will be equipped with hand-held radars to record speed-violators on the water near the coastline of Dubai. Depending on the location, a speed limit of 5-7 knots will be set. It will not apply to ships sailing far offshore. The fine will be 2000 dirhams (US $ 546).

The restriction applies to all watercraft starting with jet skis. Since the beginning of 2014, 56 accidents with water vessels have been recorded in the coastal waters of Dubai. A speed limit of 5 knots should be observed in the territory of ports, 7 knots - in the waters of the Dubai Bay and in the area of Al Mamzar Beach. In the area of beaches, ships are prohibited from approaching the shore closer than 300 meters, except in emergency situations, in which case the speed should not exceed 7 knots. The same limit applies in the 50-meter zone from any berths, platforms and anchorage of small boats.
