First UAE astronaut begins training at NASA

On the eve of the flight to the ISS, the first cosmonaut from the United Arab Emirates is undergoing training at NASA.

UAE astronauts Hazza Al-Mansouri and Sultan Al-Neyadi launched a training program at the NASA Space Center in anticipation of a flight to the International Space Station.

Recall that in the spring of 2019 it became known that Khazza Al-Mansouri would become the first emirate astronaut. In September this year, he will go on a space mission to the ISS aboard the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and will return to Earth aboard Soyuz-12

NASA's two-week program includes training in interacting with various nodes and components of the ISS American modules for research in collaboration with the agency.

NASA also held a press conference with the main crew of the mission, which is due to arrive at the ISS on September 25. It includes the flight director, cosmonaut Oleg Skrypochka and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir.
