At Dubai airports, clearing passports will take only 10 seconds

At the airports of Dubai, a new system of preliminary approval of passports has begun to work.

Dubai, UAE. The new system of preliminary approval of passenger passports already 48 hours before the flight at Dubai airports will greatly simplify the procedure for passing passport control in all terminals.

Now the time for the “cleaning” (verification and approval) of passports will be reduced from a few minutes to just 10 seconds, the new Next Generation Borders system will begin to work by the end of this year. It is being implemented by the Directorate General for Residency and Aliens in Dubai.

The new system will collect passenger data from the date of purchase of the ticket. Currently, an agreement has already been reached with Emirates that information about passengers will appear in the migration system 48 hours before the departure of the flight. The system will carry out the necessary verification and send data on the status of the passport to the officer, which will greatly accelerate its work.

The system is already operating at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. 65 airport workers are working on passport verification. Thus, the border guard should only identify the identity of the passenger standing in front of him, and put a stamp. By that time, the passenger himself had already passed a security check.

If a passenger bookes tickets at the last moment, his details will appear in the system an hour before the departure of the flight. Currently, passport control at Dubai airports is provided by over 1.6 thousand officers, each of which “cleans” 55 thousand passports per year, while globally this figure is only 11.7 thousand.
