A Facebook photo from a UAE housekeeper helped calculate a thief

Having stolen the necklace from her mistress, a housekeeper from Sharjah (UAE) put on Facebook a photo of her.

A Sri Lankan-born housekeeper who stole a gold necklace from her employer was arrested after posting a photo on Facebook with a stolen necklace.

The woman appeared before the criminal court of the emirate of Sharjah, UAE, by the decision of which she was imprisoned for six months. The court also ordered her deportation at the end of her prison term.

According to the prosecution, after the hostess found the photo on social networks, she met with a housekeeper and called the police. The accused got rid of the evidence, and later the police found a necklace in the bin.

According to the accused, she did not steal the necklace - the wife of her employer gave it to her. She claimed that she did not know that it was gold, and that is why she threw the necklace into the bin.
