The cameras will replace the inspectors in the parking lots of Abu Dhabi

Abusers will be given electronic fines in the parking lots of Abu Dhabi.

The Department of Municipal Affairs and the integrated transport center of Abu Dhabi announced the equipping of the UAE capital's parking lots with cameras designed to replace inspectors. Violators will be issued with electronic coupons.

In the first phase, cameras will be installed in Musaffah, Mohammad Bin Zayed City, and downtown Abu Dhabi.

Muhammad Al Muheiri, deputy general manager of the transport center, said the new method will allow for effective monitoring of parking rules on a larger scale.

Public parking in most areas of the capital has been paid since the end of 2009. The hourly fee for a standard place from 8.00 to midnight is 2 dirhams ($ 0.5) and 3 dirhams ($ 0.8) per hour up to 4 hours in a luxury car park. Car enthusiasts are also allowed to park near their place of residence at no extra charge with an annual fee of 800 dirhams ($ 217.8) for one car and 1.2 thousand dirhams ($ 326.7) for a second car.
