Honestly, I'm not a fan of Japanese cuisine, or rather those of its dishes, which include anything raw. Well, I do not follow the long-term rampant fashion of eating sushi and sashimi. However, I went to this restaurant with great interest, because the Japanese also have hot food! And what’s hot is not raw, as they say ...

The location of the Nobu restaurant in the famous hotel, in close proximity to the giant aquarium at the entrance, already hints at the main idea of ​​the owners - to surprise. The intricate interior in the form of a bamboo cave decorated with wicker lamps complements the impression - you turn your head around: either the open kitchen, where the cooks conjure, or the elegant (without pathos) surrounding audience ... By the way, about the public - despite the weekday, almost all the tables were occupied, and there was a slight rumble of endless conversations in the hall, which gave the establishment a particularly warm atmosphere.

A pretty tall blonde took us to a table and we prepared to try Asian delicacies. By the way, my friend is also not a fan of raw fish, about which we immediately warned the approached waiter who assured us that he was not worried about anything, he would warn the cook, and even the sashimi, which in theory should be served raw, will undergo heat treatment.

Do you like warm vodka? What about sake? As an appetizer for aromatic rice beer, and this type of drink is defined in such a way, we brought salmon sashimi. Remembering our warnings, the most delicate thin slices of fish in sesame sauce were slightly “warmed up” and quickly “melted” in our mouths. "California" sushi and thin pancakes with crab meat were also not satisfactory, and shrimp fried in batter and served in a spicy creamy sauce (Rock Shrimp Tempura Creamy Spicy) generally went with a bang! For my taste, this dish at Nobu is the most successful. Juicy shrimp in a slightly crunchy dough, with a light sweetish-sharp flavor, instantly disappeared from the toasted palm leaf. They were replaced by the main dish of the restaurant - black cod with miso sauce (Black Cod Miso). Honestly, despite my lack of passion for Japanese cuisine, I have tried this dish more than once in different city restaurants, and there was nothing to compare with. Therefore, I had the impression that the cod was “overexposed” somewhat, and its lower crust was slightly blacker than usual, and the meat was drier than we would like. On the whole, of course, it’s delicious, because it’s simply impossible to spoil such a fish. But given the worldwide high level of Nobu ...

I guess we were just out of luck that day. In any case, the taste and presentation of all the other dishes left no one indifferent. Even ordinary, at first glance, ice cream was presented in a special way. Three types of cold sweet balls "hid" in a soft viscous shell, and I wanted to get to everyone to try out the secret of this original taste.

Moreover, ice cream was brought along with a fruit cake, the hot crispy pieces of which were ideally combined with the cooling effect of an ice treat. If you ever happen to come to this restaurant with children, I assure you, they will be delighted! However, as well as from the original interpretation of the curd cake (it would seem “Cheese Cake” so familiar to everyone), but rather it will be more to the taste of the ladies - an unusually tender curd paste accompanied by berry sorbet, with a delicate glazed cookie on top, is just a work of art!

By the way, Dubai Nobu is one of the few restaurants where, from time to time, they conduct cooking classes. I don’t know if it’s possible to find out the secrets of cooking original dishes on them, but I really want to get there, if only for the opportunity to learn how to present my culinary creations so artistically.

In general, there is something to see, and certainly what to try ... But on the question of what is more in Nobu - taste, originality or art, I suggest you answer. Be sure to plan a visit to this restaurant during your next vacation in Dubai, at least in order to understand why the Hollywood celebrity Robert de Niro needed an extensive Nobu network? How did this kitchen conquer him?
