THIS IS TODAY IN DUBAI, WHERE HER COLLECTIONS ARE EXHIBITED IN LEVANT BOUTIQUE, AND TOMORROW. NEED TO Catch A MOMENT ....

Lori, tell me, please, what is the secret of the phenomenal popularity of your jewelry creations?

I think the secret lies on the surface - my jewelry is unique since I started a new trend in the jewelry industry. When I first created these rings (it shows two silver rings that completely cover my fingers and bend in the phalanges, like knightly armor - approx. Ed), the market has never seen anything like it before. They immediately attracted the attention of world celebrities, Hollywood stars, rock singers and even the wife of US President Michelle Obama.

I am sure that large and catchy jewelry, not necessarily crowned with huge diamonds, attract attention, they are also luxurious and sexy. Not for nothing that many people say that when they see my jewelry in the windows, they involuntarily stop to examine them in more detail. My jewelry looks unique because it is more fun than classic diamond jewelry. That is all.

Do you happen to remember who purchased your first jewelry?

Oh, my first jewelry was a diamond ring with a skull, which I made in 1989. And it was bought by Elizabeth Taylor. She became my first client. It was so sweet. She came to my studio with her little dog, and endlessly treating her doggie with pieces of sugar, which was laid out in vases throughout the studio, she said: "Honey, you could not come to me and bring your jewelry. Just keep in mind that they should be a little crazy. " I brought her various products, and she, applying each of them to her face, said: “I will buy pink and this is blue,” focusing solely on colors. I often saw her after that. She was very beautiful and at the same time incredibly cute and easy to communicate, like a little girl. She even celebrated her 60th birthday at Disneyland, and Michael Jackson, for whom I also made jewelry, sang “Happy Birthday” for her!

Lori, in your jewelry used a variety of materials and their combinations. What do you like to work with most?

I really like diamonds and gems. Only I love when they are not the same as usual. My personal trend is to use rough diamonds in jewelry, because I am attracted to the lack of light in them. My jewelry can be safely worn with jeans and boots, and with a chic evening dress, and at the same time look like no one else and glamorous. I want women, choosing their jewelry, trying to always look unique. Therefore, the main rule - no rules! No need to be afraid to combine the incongruous.

Where did the idea to apply on the faces and bodies of models showing your jewelry, lace drawings, so similar to tattoos?

I wanted to stand out! And I decided to resort to body art. Each model was hand-painted. I spied the idea at a music festival in Los Angeles. There, one singer was all in tattoos that resembled snake skin. And I thought it could be cool!

Where, besides the USA, are the best-selling Loree Rodkin collections?

In Japan, oddly enough. My main customers there are local rock stars. At first they flew to me in the States, because they knew that my jewelry was readily sold out by Hollywood celebrities, and then I decided to sell my products in the Land of the Rising Sun. Then, Moscow, and with the same Russian partner company, we introduced my brand in Courchevel and Paris. Of course, the USA, London. More Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Austria, Greece, Cyprus, Hong Kong. And, of course, Dubai and Levant boutiques in the Middle East. Next in my plans are Korea, India and Brazil.

Do you have regular Russian clients?

Yes, of course, only I can’t name them all by name. But I know for sure that my jewelry is worn with pleasure by all the most famous women of fashion included in the "A" list. It was very interesting for me to work with customers from Russia. And I must say that Russians have impeccable taste and sense of style.

How did Middle Eastern buyers perceive the appearance of your collections at Levant boutiques?

It seems to me that the reaction of buyers in the Middle East was more than positive. Even before I appeared here, my collections were heard, because I work with leading rock stars of the world, such as Elton John, Madonna, Cher, Jennette Jackson and many others. I am very lucky as my customer list is huge. I am proud that my work brings joy. It's fine!

What impressions can push you to create a new collection?

Everything is absolutely: the amazing architecture that I, for example, see here in the Emirates, the old jewelry collections in the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles from Sartier, the craftsmanship of jewelers of past centuries, vintage fabrics, windows in temples or silhouettes of mosques ... All this and much another can be embodied in interesting jewelry. You just need to be able to see. I love visiting museums in different countries. All expositions, especially jewelry, as if talking to me .... I really want to publish a large book of my jewelry so that everyone can read it.

Thank you Lori! We wish you further success and new creative ideas!
